Day 33 - Legs & Back

So, I’m well into the next phase, but I haven’t had at time to take day 30 pictures.  I hope to get time this week and maybe I’ll have a day 35 picture set up.  I did sneak a peak on the scale, and I’m -4lbs for the 30 days, which is pretty decent for weight loss.

Legs & Back this time around proved to make me more sore than it has.  I think that it has to do with the fact that during the recovery week I wasn’t working as hard.   I also missed 2 workouts that week due to “injury”.   I have to say, with halloween candy all around me, I haven’t been that good at keeping away from it.   I’m hoping I have a bit more willpower when the holidays come around.  Eat some turkey, a little stuffing, and a little potatos and get the heck out of the kitchen :)

Day 29 - New Workouts!

I apologize for the lack of posts this week, things have been pretty busy. (though I don’t think anyone is actually reading this as of yet).  I did have my first missed workout… 2 to be exact.  I had a bit of a *ahem* injury that I needed to let heal, so I took 2 days off (of my recovery week) which was then followed by my rest day on my schedule, and I feel great today.   Chaffage is a bitch! :)

I’m excited for the new workout today… I forget the actual name though… I’ll keep you informed.  Day 30 is around the corner, and I’ll be posting pics and measurements as per P90X’s program.

Day 23 - Core Synergistics

Last night I did a new workout: Core Synergistics.   It was pretty fun… It makes you think that you’re not doing core work, when indeed you are.  It’s a good thing for me, since core is my weakest area.  AbRipperX is just torture to even get half the reps out.

This recovery week has been pretty easy so far… I think I have Kenpo tonight which is always sweet.  I’m looking forward to the new workouts in phase 2… and measuring myself for my 30day update. :)

Day 21 - Rest

last night I did KenpoX and had a great time.  Sweated my butt off, and was definitely BRINGING IT!   After tonight’s rest night (I’ll probably do StretchX tonight after class), I head into the first recovery week.  This is a big turning point for me, because last time I started P90X (early 2007), I got to this point and decided that Core Synergistics and other stuff wasn’t for me, and basically repeated the first phase.  This TOTALLY defeats the purpose of “muscle confusion”!

This time I am determined to see the whole 90 days through, to the ‘T’.

I’ve been reading a lot of Tony Horton’s blog lately, and he has a pretty amazing outlook on life.  I read all of his previous posts, back to 2005, and he has some great tips in there.   I recommend you check it out at http://tonyhorton.blogspot.com/

Day 17 - Shoulders and Arms

I’ve been doing pretty good.  Last night I did Plyometrics… and just like the first 2 times, I only got through about 2/3 of the workout before my legs literally gave out.  Its ok though… I felt like I had a GREAT workout.  Today, I have “late coverage” at work, which means I need to stay until 6pm.  Well, I only needed 6.5hrs to finish my 40 for the week, so I did shoulders&arms this morning before work.  It was nice!  I feel energized here at work.

I’m hoping to crush AbRipperX when I get home to get it out of the way.

I’m pretty happy with my eating lately.  Almost all of my lunchs have been (chicken or pork-chop) + veggies + sometimes roasted potatoes.

I have to say, that I’m also quite impressed with my wife.  She has been doing another Beachbody product (Slim in 6) since October 1st as well… and has not missed a workout with the exception of “rest days” included in the program.  I’m so proud of her!  She’s never been much of an exerciser since I’ve known her, but we’re both getting into the routine and its great!

Day 13 - Kenpo

I haven’t posted in the past few days… I had a really busy weekend :)

Things are going great, and I’m still “pressing play”.  Last night I had Kenpo… and I’ll reiterate how this is my favorite of all the workouts.  It’s so much fun, and you get so sweaty from it!  Tonight I’m supposed to have StretchX… but i’m not sure I’ll have time tonight with class.  If not, it’ll just be my rest day.

No major injuries to report.  My right hipflexor is doing slightly better, but not 100%… maybe its just getting used to the routines.

Day 9 & Day 10 - Plyometrics, then Shoulders & Arms + AbRipperX

I missed my blog post…  yesterday I did Plyometrics.  I kinda bonked at about the same point I did last week.  I completed roughly 2/3 of it, and just completely died and was lacking quality reps… so I stopped.  It has me slightly frustrated, but I think that doing 2/3 of plyo and pushing myself is better than doing 100% of the CardioX and not pushing myself.

Today I did Shoulders and Arms with AbRipperX.  I tore up the shoulders and arms workout… I love this one.  AbRipperX was “meh” as usual.  I did ~10-15 reps of most exercise, but I skipped a few that work too much of the hip flexors, or make me stretch too far (which is like 1/4 of the exercises lol).  So… I’m not sure I’m gaining headway there either.  I’ve also been icing my right hip flexor as a semi-preventative measure.  Its been sore since last week, and was an ongoing problem for me about 6 months ago.

All this “debbie downer” talk… but I do have good news.  I was not NEARLY as sore this week after Plyo as I was last week.  I was practically crippled for 3 days last week, and barely felt it this week.  My body is getting used to the punishment…. BRING IT!

Day 8 - Chest & Back

So, last night I did what I try so hard to avoid… I worked out right after eating dinner.  The things that my wife and I needed to do, combined with our work schedule for yesterday, just made it happen that way.  I ate dinner at about 7:15, and started Chest & Back at 8pm.  I was a little more tired than usual because it was later, but I still brought it!  The main problem was that I was burping up dinner…. and there was no way in hell I was gonna do AbRipperX while burping up dinner.  That could have ended poorly :)

All in all, a good day.  Can’t wait to try Plyo again today…. woot!

Day 7 - Rest Day / StretchX

StretchX was just what the doctor ordered. After tweaking my hamstring in Kenpo, I’m feeling great today after resting and doing StretchX yesterday.  I neglected this workout the last time I was working out, but I certainly won’t be neglecting it this time.  I peeked at the scale this morning and I was down 2lbs, so thats good.  I won’t be taking official measurements until the 30,60,90 day marks.

Back to work for me.

Day 6 - Kenpo

Last night was my Kenpo workout.  Kenpo is kinda like a tae-bo karate-type workout.  It’s really fun and gets you really sweating.  Near the end, I tweaked my hamstring during a kick sequence and had to stop.  After icing it and taking 2 advil, I was able to stretch it a little after a couple hours.  This morning it feels just a little sore (like the other hammy) so I’m not too worried.   Tonight is StretchX anyways, so I’ll be able to stretch it more and give it a rest.  It won’t be worked hard until Thursday’s Plyo.

Food today will be a little random.   I got 2 scrambled eggs and 2 sausage from my offices cafeteria because I was in a hurry to get out the door.  For lunch I have a chicken enchilada from home, and my snacks are an orange, a pear, a string cheese, and some cottage cheese.  Tonight for dinner, like every Tuesday that I have class, I’ll have a gyro from this greek deli….. mmmmmmm.

Keep on bringin’ it.
